BU 92-61 [CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE] [REDACTED] with the help of FONTANA who called “MAGGADINO” and told him he was suspected and wanted to get away. This article pointed out that a detective overheard “MAGGADINO” tell FONTANA to go to Buffalo, New York, “where he would be well cared for by the chief there who would be notified.” The records of the New York City Police Department [REDACTED], 300 Broome Street, Brooklyn, was arrested on August 16, 1921, as a fugitive from justice (homicide - Avon, New Jersey). On September 16, 1921, MAGADDINO was handed to the Asbury Park, New Jersey, Police Department. Records reflect that the homicide for which MAGADDINO was arrested was committed on June 30, 1921. The records of the department further reflect that no fingerprints were taken of MAGADDINO at the time of his arrest. The records of INS reflect that STEFANO MAGADDINO was held without bail by the New York City Police Department for 30 days, at the end of which time he was released due to the fact that there was not sufficient evidence to connect him with the crime; namely the murder of CAMILLO CAIZZO. The records of INS further reflect that on March 25, 1922, FONTANA was sentenced to life for the murder of CAIZZO. On June 1, 1954, T-1, [REDACTED], stated that during the above period the subject resided in New York City, and used to travel from city to city selling cheap oil and scaring people into purchasing oil from him. [The informant] stated that at that time when somebody wanted someone killed, they went to a gang in which the subject was a member to have the killing done. [The informant] stated that he feels sure that MAGADDINO is one of the people responsible for the killing of SALVATORE, JOSEPH, and FELICE BUCCELLATO, all of Detroit, Michigan, in the early 1920s, although he did not see any of these killings and has no positive proof.
