BU 92-61 — continuation — report page -4-. Continuation of the Saturday Evening Post excerpt concerning the wedding of JOSEPHINE MAGADDINO to CHARLES A. MONTANA: '100 thugs from all over the country and for each one there were two Federal Agents and Detectives casing the crowd. Even Costello was there, the last time he showed up at an open mafia clambake. He held court in the best suite in the house, and when he went down to the lobby the underlings bowed and scraped as though he was giving Christmas baskets to the peasants.' The FBI report says the wedding occurred in 1939 and that this was the only reference to the subject in the Saturday Evening Post article dated August 9, 1958, entitled 'The Rap Gangsters Fear Most.' [The excerpt above is a quotation from the periodical repeated in the FBI report, not an independently established FBI finding.] A car bearing redacted Michigan license plates was observed at the subject's residence during surveillance on June 1, 1958. A June 27, 1958 letter from the Detroit Office identified the registered owner [REDACTED] as having a 1954 Plymouth. The report refers to a March 28, 1958 Detroit letter in the JOHN CHARLES MONTANA anti-racketeering case. Extensive information about a family, residences, and employment is redacted. A visible passage names JOSEPH MONTANA, recently deceased, as the brother of JOHN C. MONTANA, Top Hoodlum of the Buffalo Office. The paragraph concerning descriptions furnished by Detroit continues on the next page. [REDACTED — official deletions.]
