It has previously been reported that PETER QUARTENELLO, who is also known as PETER WALTERS, was scheduled to attend the Apalachin meeting November 14, 1957, but became ill and could not attend.
On February 21, 1958, T-11, who formerly was an employee of the United States Government and is believed to be reliable, and who originally furnished information regarding PETER WALTERS was recontacted. At this time informant stated he would not divulge the source of his information regarding WALTERS but he would contact his source of information periodically for the purpose of obtaining information regarding the activities of WALTERS.
This informant was recontacted on February 24, 1958, at which time he stated that he had contacted his source of information in Canada, at which time his source of information stated that only about six individuals who attended the Apalachin meeting were “head men” and all the rest were so called “flunkies.” This informant stated that his source of information stated that [REDACTED] if the upstairs portion of BARBARA's home had been searched, approximately ten or twelve more participants at the Apalachin meeting would have been located. Informant still refused to disclose the identity of his source of information but stated he would continue to contact his source for any additional information he could obtain regarding WALTERS.
T-11 was recontacted on March 19, 1958, at which time he advised that he had no additional information to furnish and he still declined to furnish the source of his information regarding PETE WALTERS.
On March 6, 1958, [REDACTED], Immigration and Naturalization Service, Buffalo, New York, stated he had made some inquiry in Canada and ascertained that the true name of PETE WALTERS is FRANK GUALTIERI but he is known by everyone in Canada by the name PETE WALTERS. He said that WALTERS resides [REDACTED] at 79 Pine Street, Thorold, Ontario, Canada, and has learned that for some years he has had no feasible means of support although he dresses well and always appears to have considerable money. He also ascertained that WALTERS drives a 1956 Oldsmobile bearing 1958 Ontario license plate Number 542962 and is reported to travel extensively through the Province of Ontario in Canada. [REDACTED] also advised that he learned that WALTERS is known to be a gambler but other than that could learn nothing additional regarding any illegal activities on the part of WALTERS.
