The record contains no information pertaining to his having requested to stay at Fort Niagara, New York, other than a letter from Representative ALFRED F. BEITER, House of Representatives, dated March 19, 1941, which requested that MAGADDINO be transferred from Fort McClellan, Alabama, to Fort Niagara, New York, for the following reason:
“Private MAGADDINO is serving a year in Selective Service training and because his business at Niagara Falls needs his personal attention at least periodically he would like to be stationed at Fort Niagara. In this manner he can on an occasional weekend be available to give advice to his associates in the Power City Distributing Company.”
This request was denied by letter dated March 24, 1941, in which the Department of the Army advised that enlisted men were not authorized transfers for their own convenience during the first four months of their period of training, but that the matter would be referred to the appropriate commanders for consideration in connection with such applications as MAGADDINO might submit.
